Itinerary: Four perfect days in Paris and Normandy (gluten free)

Paris is grand, beautiful and enchanting. It’s also a great city for gluten-free dining. In September 2015, my mom, sister and I spent four days exploring the city. I outline our itinerary below — including restaurant options for each meal. We stayed at this Airbnb so we could enjoy the classic boulangerie experience each morning at Chambelland, a gluten-free bakery.

Day one:

Arrive in Paris and check into your hotel or Airbnb. Then:

  • Eat lunch at Thank You, My Deer (100% gluten free, closed Mondays)
  • Visit Place de Vosges
  • See Notre Dame
  • Walk around Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis
  • Browse the used book stalls along the Seine
  • Stop in Shakespeare and Co. bookstore
  • Take a Seine cruise
  • Eat dinner at Loulou Friendly Diner

Day two:

Start with a hot air balloon ride and end with the glittering lights of the Eiffel Tower. This is one of my favorite travel days ever.

  • Eat breakfast at Chambelland and buy extra bread for later (100% gluten free, closed Mondays)
  • Ride in the Ballon de Paris
  • Shop for cheese, fruit and wine on Rue Cler
  • Picnic at the Eiffel Tower
  • Walk through Saint-Germain-des-Prés
  • Buy macarons at Pierre Hermé (not all flavors are gluten free)
  • Relax in the Jardin du Luxembourg
  • Shop on Rue Mouffetard
  • Eat dinner at Noglu (100% gluten free, several locations)
  • Admire the Eiffel Tower at night (It sparkles for five minutes every hour, on the hour.)
